Meet our Guides

All guides are local young men, from the local village by the mountain. They went to the same pagoda for schooling and are close friends. They have been trained for over 5 years by founder David to successfully guide you through our amazing adventure.

No matter what your level is, you’ll feel at ease with our guides.

David, Founder & CEO

David has been climbing for over 20 years. In 2013 he combined his passion for climbing with his love for Cambodia by creating Climbodia. David has lived in Nepal for 5 years and over 10 years in Cambodia.

Seyha, Manager & Senior Guide

Seyha has been with Climbodia since the very beginning. After graduating from high school, Seyha became a full time guide. Living in the village next to the mountain, he knows the caves inside out. He married in 2017 and his second child is on the way!

Heng, Senior Guide

Heng joined the team in July 2014 after graduating from high school. He is a very strong climber with technical insight. Heng finished a Bachelor in Banking in Kampot in 2018 but prefers to continue working with us.

Song, Senior Guide

Song has been with us since 1^st December 2014. This lovely young man, living right next to the mountain, can guide all ages and is wonderful with kids. He knows the caves inside out and has proven to be an adequate climbing instructor.

Abz, Senior Guide

Abz has been with us since late 2016. Besides climbing mountains he’s a night guard at a guesthouse in Kampot and helps out with the family farm as much as he can. A very busy bee!

A simple man with a crazy idea

Meet our Founder

In January ’13 I fell in love at first sight, with a mountain in Kampot. As I was happily getting lost in the countryside, I stumbled upon this wonder of nature. I stared at its beauty and envisioned a place for adventure. A dream began.

After many months of dealing with authorities and customs, licenses were approved and gear was shipped in. It took half a year to explore the caves, drill 3 Via Ferratas and the first climbing routes. The necessary ingredients for the tours were established.

While the Discovery Tour went live in December ’13, I continued to equip climbing routes. Today there are 21 climbing routes, there will be more.

What started as a climbing inspired ‘mission’ turned into an adventurous business with 5 full time members of staff. My manager and guides are local young men living in spitting distance of the mountain. Training and supporting the local community has been an important factor.

Climbodia has been running for over 5 years and it has been an exciting chapter in our lives. Everything changed that day because, quite simply, it had to be done.

I did the Discovery Tour a few days ago and had an absolute blast. The guides were so funny and positive and were happy to provide guidance and reassurance where needed. They also provided climbing shoes for the climbing component which was a relief. The activities felt really safe (double clip on when on the via Ferrara, helmets) and it was so much fun seeing the caves! This has really inspired me to get back into climbing and get out more when I return home!

I was with my 2 boys aged 7 and 10 on Climbodia's Discovery trip and we had a fantastic day! I had underestimated my 7 year old's fear of heights, so myself and him were a bit stressed during the first part, but the guides were really professional in helping us through the difficult parts - so we got through and were pretty proud afterwards! My youngest wasn't going to shoot through after that and he flew through the rest of the trip. The rock caves we saw were fascinating and the guides added historical stories to the tour - perfect mix of being active and cultural at the same time. I would recommend a trip with Climbodia at any time.

Very fun experience. Here we got to explore caves, climb via ferrata, look at the view, climb sports routes and abseil. The guides were nice and funny. We also challenged ourselves to sport climbing at the end. Security was also good.

Rented gear to climb independently at the crag--easy, straightforward process. Guides/staff were kind and it was fun observing them cheering on their clients. The caves are super fun to explore! Stoked for the potential of routes in this area!

Very cool location for climbing. Good and helpful instructors. The discovery tour contained a nice mix of activities. Also, almost everything was in the shade, which made it a lot more pleasant.

I did the Discovery Tour and it was super fun! The cave is really nice, abseiling was a lot of fun and climbing was exhausting but great! The staff is very friendly and considerate. You don't need any climbing experiencebut also with experience very fun. 10/10 would recommend.

Cool activity, I would have liked to spend more time on via ferrata or inside the cave rather than doing so much climbing at the end. In the end the activity lasted 3 hours instead of 4 hours and after 2 hours we left the caves.Smiling and pleasant instructors. Take photos for memories :)

Me and a friend have just been to Climbodia and cannot recommend it enough!David was really easy to deal with and responded very quickly, making the booking process very easy.The team at the wall; Ladyboy, Pretty Boy and Ganster were fantastic and really made the experience that bit more special. They were a great laugh as well as looking out for our safety and giving us good advice on the wall.So glad I came here, it’s been the highlight of Cambodia so far!

I went climbing at Climbodia in December, and it was amazing! Me and my dad booked the 4hrs rock climbing. We had two great guides to belaying us, they know what they are doing and are also very fun to have a chat with. They cheer you on and try to motivate you (susu!!). My dad and I boulder a lot back home and it was still perfectly possible to challenge ourselves here. We were properly tired after 4 hours of climbing and there were even a few routes we couldn’t finish. So, it is great place for beginners but also more experienced climbers. They are also going to place more bolts which means there will be even more routes in the future, so I am looking forward to going back!

We (two inexperienced climbers) did the discovery tour. The via Ferrara portion was great - awesome views and enough challenge to be engaging. The journey into the caves was super cool as well, although if you’re a bigger person some of the spaces could be a little tight. At the end of the tour you’re given plenty of time for real climbing. We were pretty exhausted and didn’t take full advantage but that was our decision. The guides absolutely made tour what it was; they were helpful, funny and encouraging throughout. We’d definitely recommend Climbodia if you’re looking for something active to do in Kampot.

The guides were awesome. It’s a great mix of rock scrambling along the cliffs while clipped onto metal wires (via Ferrata), walking and some short crawls through the caves, and then finish with however much climbing you want. Very happy we did it. Definitely recommend to anyone who wants to try climbing or has done it before and wants to get a little bit of climbing in Cambodia.

My girlfriend and I enjoyed the mix climbing and the instructors were well trained to secure our safety🙏There could be more routes bolted. After one session you more or less finished all routes. They have a variety from of difficulties from 4-7a.We can recommend to an activity with them👍

Loved our day doing everything from climbing, caving and abseiling. The team are super friendly and very funny. It is a relaxed tempo and I really enjoyed that you could take your time at the end to climb or just chill if you wanted to give your arms a break. It was particularly good as we booked on a very hot day but it's all in the shade or in the caves so you can make the most of your day.

If you're already into rock climbing you might be wondering whether this is worthwhile... 100% it is!After the adventure tour we climbed their bolted routes.I climbed everything up to f6b and was very impressed by the quality of the routes. The limestone has a great variety of textures and the particular section they use for the groups also has some really cool shapes and larger features. In the 5 30m routes I did I was on vertical walls, steep juggy overhangs, chimneying between opposite cave walls, spiralling up through roof holes and topping out onto viewpoints.It may be the only climbing in the area, but that doesn't mean they are scraping the barrel for quality - quite the opposite!

Incredible experience.We booked the rock climbing only, but the guides are well aware that 4 hours straight of climbing is biting off more than most of us tourists can chew, so they let us join the caving tour as a break in between climbs.The guides speak English (and even Dutch!!) well and are super supportive and helpful.Although it says climbing and caving for every level, be prepared for an adventure. Anyone can do it, there was a young kid on our tour and he did great, but you will get dirty and sweaty and it will tire you out.Absolutely worth it though, fabulous activity well worth the money.

I had an amazing time climbing for two days with Climbodia! The communication before and during the climbs was excellent so I knew exactly what to expect. The staff was professional, patient, and fun. Plus, the actual climbing location was perfect for the Cambodian heat and had many different levels of climbs. All the equipment seemed in good shape. I would definitely recommend Climbodia!

An amazing experience in a spectacular setting! We did the discovery tour as we don't have much climbing experience. This involved rope climbing, via ferrata, abseiling, exploring caves and finally more via ferrata. It was great fun and all very doable despite our lack of prior experience. The guides were very helpful and funny.Only negative was the tuktuk price, we organised collection from our hostel (near Kampot) through Climbodia, it ended up costing $15 for a return journey for 3 people, the price one way on grab was about $3 so we ended up paying over double the cost. I'd recommend getting the address and making your own way there instead.

Great time!!! My partner and I had never rock climbing before. The professional, friendly and enthusiastic team made us feel safe and made the experience fun. This should be the top experience in Kampot! My boyfriend and I did the discovery tour that lasted about 3-4hrs and was a great pump of adrenaline. The guides were hilarious and very patient with me trying a route over and over at the end. I had some experience with climbing and abseiling in the past but you could easily do this tour with no experience. They should advertise that they’re also the best photographers! They did a great job documenting our experience with them and getting some awesome photos!
